Cupping, CBD & Magnesium Information

CUPPING

Cupping massage is a modality in which suction cups are placed on the surface of the skin and can either be moved or fixed over tense, problematic areas. The upward force works to free up and increase blood flow as well as oxygen, to the deepest layers of tissue. This treatment reduces the tension, stiffness and cramping that can be caused by chronic back/neck pains, migraines, inflammation, athletic strain/injury, scar tissue and a host of other issues.

Most clients describe the sensation as being "intense" but not necessarily painful. Much like deep tissue massage, the level of intensity can and will be adjusted based on your tolerance and the issues for which you are seeking cupping.

The side effects are minimal, however the process does most often leave cupping marks (most refer to these as "bruises" however that’s a common misconception). Below you’ll find the link to an article that wonderfully explains exactly what the marks consist of. Sensitivity/tenderness on/around cupping marks is also fairly common yet quick to dissipate.

The benefits include a reduction and/or elimination of chronic muscle tension & compression; increased range of motion; increased blood flow, oxygen and lymph fluid to areas most in need - areas potentially injured, damaged or otherwise lacking.

CBD

CBD is an effective option for treating different types of chronic pain. Applied topically, it can help to lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis, reduce joint swelling, and inhibit inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat. The specific type of oil used at my practice is organic MCT oil containing pure CBD (cannabidiol) from hemp organically grown in Maine!

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium can help with muscle soreness and cramping, balancing hormones, providing relief from stress, improving sleep, reducing pain and has innumerable overall benefits. Athletes and anyone with chronic body pain tend to love transdermal magnesium. Also highly restorative for those suffering from psoriasis, eczema & other common skin conditions.
